Today we’re highlighting one of our Academy of Distinction programs honored at a recent school board meeting – East Lake High School Academy of Biomedical Sciences. The mission of the Biomedical Science Academy is to introduce students to biotechnical skills and equipment and prepare them for careers in healthcare and related research. Students are tackling real-world challenges even before graduating from high school. Utilizing the same tools employed by professionals in hospitals and labs, students participate in engaging, hands-on activities, collaborating to devise solutions. Upon completion of these courses, students carry with them in-demand knowledge and skills that will serve them throughout high school and in any career path they choose for the rest of their lives.Their coursework prepares them to take Florida’s Biotechnician Assistant Credentialing Exam, which allows them to work in a lab during or after high school.
