Seniors and Scholars Week
 January 30 - February 3, 2006
Have you ever thought about volunteering at a public school in Pinellas County? Maybe you wanted to help children but thought, “where do I go, what do I do?” Or maybe you thought you don’t have the skills or the time to really make a difference. You CAN make a difference in a child’s life in a variety of ways without a huge time commitment.
Seniors & Scholars Week is a great way to test the waters by calling the public school of your choice. You don’t have to make a commitment to volunteer before you go and you can visit the school, learn about the volunteer opportunities available and if you love it, which we know you will, you can sign up with the school to volunteer in the area of your choice.
Seniors & Scholars Week culminates on Friday, February 3, 2006 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Stavros Institute with a reception for all seniors participating during the week. Our special host for the reception will be WTSP-Tampa Bay’s 10 Chief Meteorologist, Dick Fletcher.
Our senior population is one of the most underutilized human resources in the Tampa Bay area. Our public schools offer seniors a great opportunity for involvement in our community and in the lives of our young people. Our young people need to be introduced to the experience, wisdom and skills of our senior population. For more information about this program and how you can get involved, call Holly Lisle at 727-588-4816 ext. 30.
Make a difference in a child’s life! You’ll be glad you did.
