Southwest Florida Water Management District Water Resources Grants
The Southwest Florida Water Management District, Pinellas Education Foundation and Pinellas County Schools have partnered to offer classroom-based water resources grants. Pinellas County School teachers in all subject areas within Pinellas County can apply as individuals or as a group, requesting up to $5,000 per school.

The goal of the SPLASH! Water Resources Grant is to promote water education that teaches students about their watersheds and the water resources within them. The official website to learn more about SWFWMD is http://www.watermatters.org.

National Fish & Wildlife Foundation Environmental Grants
Continued grant funding has been secured for 2007-2008 by the Pinellas Education Foundation through the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation and the Pinellas County Environmental Fund (PCEF) to develop classroom projects that address environmental needs.  Applications may ask for funding between $5,000 and $15,000 and are being directed specifically to address 1 of 2 areas:

  • Habitat restoration and conservation (such as projects that benefit salt marsh, oyster or mangrove habitat, etc.)
  • Threatened and endangered species
