What is Youth Skills

Youth Skills provide guidance, support, financial assistance with post secondary vocational and academic training, and employment opportunities to low income youth.

Who Qualifies for Youth Skills?

If you are a Pinellas County resident between the ages of 16 and 21 with a low income or from a low income family you may qualify. In addition, you must also meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Dropped out of school
  • Current or Former Foster Child
  • Pregnant or Parenting
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Homeless or Runaway
  • Enrolled in GED program
  • Ex-Offender
  • Other (see Youth Coordinator for details)

How Can Youth Skills Help Me?

The Youth Skills Program is designed to provide services and resources aimed at helping youth to enroll and successfully complete training programs to become self sufficient. We provide academic and career assessment, counseling, assistance with developing a career plan and on-going support. Based on initial needs, customers may also qualify to receive help with training-related costs and other support services.
