Walker's Rising Stars - Drama Requirements
Categories - Drama, Monologue, Mime or a combination
v Performances will be primarily judged on, but not limited to: individual talent, skill and potential, stage presence, projection, articulation, interpretation and understanding of text, communication, physical movement and gestures.
v Each contestant MUST prepare TWO SELECTIONS. These two selections MUST be contrasting. One selection must be a monologue. The second selection can be another monologue or a mime. Your monologue should have a clear beginning, middle and end.
v Both selections MUST BE MEMORIZED.
v Only basic lighting is permitted and will be provided.
v No costumes may be used at the regional competitions. Simple hand props or costume accessories are permitted if they are an integral part of the scene.
v No obscene/vulgar language or gestures permitted for auditions and/or performances.
OVERALL PERFORMING ARTS REQUIREMENTS
v Competition performances should be 3 minutes minimum and 8 minutes maximum for the combined pieces.
v Competitors are judged on their overall skill, creativity and artistic expression.
v Students are encouraged to choose their best work. Do not choose works that are more difficult than your current level of proficiency to impress the judges.
v It is the responsibility of the competitor to obtain any necessary copyright permission.
v Open to SOLOISTS ONLY.
v No obscene/vulgar language or gestures permitted for auditions and/or performances.
v Applications will be reviewed for eligibility and competitors will be notified about audition dates and locations (Preliminary auditions will be held in either January or February 2012).
Printed & signed application, Resume and Letter of Recommendation must be turned in to the Pinellas Education Foundation by November 11, 2011, the performing arts deadline.
