Q. When will Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Scholarship selection occur?
A. Selection of students occurs throughout the Pinellas Technical Education Center (Ptec)’s calendar year. pTEC’s calendar is year-round, featuring five enrollment periods.
Q. What are the various scenarios for scholarship selection?
A. From time to time there are specific requests from sponsors for a certain campus, a certain geographic area, or a particular course of study. The Education Foundation will honor those requests in most cases. The remaining students are selected with non-specific funding dollars. The Foundation works closely with the Frances Stavros Career Technical Education counselors to ensure that students meet scholarship requirements.
Q. How will information be communicated to potential scholarship recipients?
A. In cooperation with WorkNet Pinellas, the Foundation conducts an awareness campaign targeted to all middle and high schools in Pinellas County, advising of the benefits of technical education. The Foundation also produces a series of Public Service announcements through WPDS Channel 14.

Q. What is the purpose of the resume section?
A. The resume section will benefit the Frances Stavros Career Technical Education sponsor, as an employer; and the Frances Stavros Career Technical Education scholarship recipient, as a potential employee. Resumes of participating students from a variety of courses of study will be available to Frances Stavros Career Technical Education sponsors. Sponsors will be able to view and contact each student directly.
Q. What benefits will sponsors receive?
A. Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Scholarship sponsors have the opportunity to attend the annual Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Scholarship Breakfast, receive recognition in the Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Scholarship breakfast program and on our sponsor board, and be invited to visit the Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Program at either of the pTEC campuses. Also, each sponsor will receive a thank you letter from their students.
Q. I am a potential Frances Stavros Career Technical Education student- whom do I contact for more information about the Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Scholarship program?
A. There are two Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Program Coordinators, one at each pTEC campus. Each campus offers different programs. Once you determine your program of interest, contact the Program Coordinator at that campus. Each Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Scholarship candidate must meet with a Program Coordinator prior to being accepted into the Frances Stavros Career Technical Education Scholarship Program.
