The following list specifies all available details about each of the Foundation's scholarships:

 

 
Aida White Memorial
Sponsor:Pinellas Education Foundation
Amount:One Award of $1,000
Use:Two-four year college/university
Criteria: 1. Graduating students from St. Petersburg High School
2. U.S. nationality (can be refugee student if parents are becoming U.S. nationals. If student is a refugee, he or she must plan to become a U.S. citizen.)
3. Applicant must plan to major in science, mathematics, or one of the engineering sciences
4. The award is limited to students needing financial assistance

 

 
Al Downing Jazz Education
Sponsor:The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association, Inc.
Amount:One Award up $2,000
Use:Two-four year college/university
Criteria: 1. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
2. Students must use scholarship to further studies in jazz.
3. Must participate in a jazz band during their senior year.

Special Requirements: 1. Students must submit a written essay (minimum of 100 words) on the topic “What jazz means in my life” along with a band director’s recommendation.

4. Special consideration will be given to applications affiliated with the Military, or ROTC

4. Special consideration will be given to applicants who support the area of library science either through volunteer work, or plan to pursue a career in library science

3. Minimum of 2.5 Grade point average

 

 
Gulf Coast Giving Scholarship

3. The applicants for the scholarship will be evaluated and selected based upon the following criteria: Community Service, School Involvement, Grade Point Average and Financial Need.
4.This scholarship may be renewable if conditional guidelines are met by the recipient.

Criteria: 1. Graduating Tarpon Springs High School
2. Demonstrated during their tenure in High School their service to the community and school. Heavy emphasis for qualification for this award is predicated on community service. Community service and participation in volunteer programs throughout the 4 years of high school term will be closely analyzed.
3. Grades must be of a GPA to qualify for entry into an accredited college.
4. Test scores are also taken into consideration by the selection committee in giving out these awards.

This scholarship may be renewable if conditional guidelines are met by the recipient.

 

 
Helen Ellis Memorial Arts
Sponsor:The Ellis Foundation
Amount:One $2,000 award- renewable on conditional guidelines
Use:Two-four year college/university
Criteria: 1. Graduating students of Tarpon Springs High School
2. They must have demonstrated a focus on classes involved in the ARTS. This would include but not limited to: music, theatre, media, dance, art, photography and other creative arts. The applicant's future goal for major in college should be, as well, in the fields as referenced above.
3. Grade point average must meet or exceed accredited college entry requirements.
4. The selection committee will also take into consideration the applicants efforts to participate in community and volunteer services.

Test scores are also factored into the selection process.

 

 
Herman and Mary Allen

Amount:Fourteen awards of $500 each (seven males and seven females)
Use:Four-year college/university
Criteria: 1. Graduating African-American seniors from Palm Harbor University High School.
2. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
3. A minimum SAT of 1000 or a minimum ACT of 20.
4. Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree in education.

3. Looking to pursue Legal degree

Special Requirements: Applicants must submit an essay 4 to 6 pages, typed and double spaced that addresses the topic “Tell us about an experience when you led by example” The essay must include Student name, school and contact information on the first page.
