Transforming Lives
In 2011, with your support, we have achieved great success even in the midst of a challenging economic environment. A few key highlights are:
- 314 Doorways seniors graduated in June and more than 80 had a 4.0 GPA.
- 900 mentors participated in our Doorways program.
- 197 classroom grants totaling $383,074.02 were given to deserving educators to enhance students’ learning experience.
- Enterprise Village welcomed 10,000 fifth graders and 8,000 eighth graders visited Finance Park.
- More than 700 students who were at-risk or had dropped out of school were reached through our Youth Connect Program.
- More than 16 school programs were recognized as a Center of Excellence which enables high school students in Pinellas County to earn high school credit, college credit, and industry certification.
- We hosted a symposium attended by approximately 100 corporate, education and community leaders of Tampa Bay where local and state experts discussed educational reform issues.
- 700 individuals participated in our Seniors and Scholars program which offers members of the community, age 55 and over, the opportunity to remain informed about, connected to and active in supporting the educational development of today’s students.
In addition, events such as our Evening of Excellence and Walker’s Rising Stars Scholarship Competition drew record crowds and provided well deserved recognition for our best educators, business partners and artistic students.
