On May 27th, Camille Clark stepped onto the stage at Ruth Eckerd Hall while the audience of more than nine hundred viewed the video of her artwork. That night she became the first place winner, in the Visual Arts Category, for the 2010 Walker’s Rising Stars competition, earning a $7,000 scholarship. The piece of artwork that Camille submitted for Walker’s Rising Stars was a self portrait, filled with intricate details and patterns which reflected Camille’s skill, talent, and passion for drawing.
Recently, the same self portrait also earned recognition on a national level. Camille’s drawing was chosen to be part of the 2010 National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Teen Exhibition. Her drawing was on display in the World Financial Center Courtyard Gallery in New York from June 9th to the 25th. The self portrait earned a Gold Medal in the Drawing Category and was chosen to be the featured artwork in the half page ads that ran nationally through The New York Times announcing the teen exhibition.
Camille is a very talented young artist and a wonderful Walker’s Rising Stars Ambassador. We look forward to seeing more pieces of Camille’s artwork being recognized in the future. Congratulations Camille!
