Centers of Excellence Awarded Model Status

The NCAC provides the onlynational certification for high school career academies across the country. The NCAC career academy review process is based on ten National Standards of Practice, which include:

·         Academy Structure

·         Host District and High School

·         Faculty and Staff

·         Professional Development

·         Governance and Leadership

·         Curriculum and Instruction

·         Employer, Higher Education and Community Involvement

·         Student Assessment

·         Cycle of Improvement

Career academies are four-year programs designed to blend a student’s required academic courses with the career technical program of the academy. Career academy programs prepare students for:

·         National/industry certifications

·         Pinellas Technical Education Centers (pTEC), two-year college or university

·         Entry into their chosen career

The Criminal Justice Academy is a four-year course study designed for students interested in pursuing a career in law, law enforcement and other criminal justice-related fields.

The Academy of Finance introduces students to the broad career opportunities in the financial services industry and equips them to make sound choices for the future. Course work includes: economics, finance, accounting, computers, banking and financial planning. Students gain real-world experience by working in the Viking Branch, a real credit union on campus sponsored by Achieva Credit Union.
