Business Partner Spotlight: Terry Graber, Doubletree Beach Resorts

Foundation Forum  - August 2010

Doubletree Beach Resort on North Redington Beach was recognized as a finalist at the Pinellas Education Foundation “Business Partner of the Year Awards.” Doubletree has long supported Pinellas Education Foundation and Pinellas County Schools by giving their staff time, donations and sponsorship to improve children’s lives.

In 2006 Doubletree joined forces with Rawlings Elementary School to participate in Teaching Kids to CARE, in keeping with Love Your Trees. Love Your Community, Love Your Earth. In 2009 Doubletree transformed the garden from a barren landscape to a thriving garden of trees and plants surrounding picnic tables made from 100% recycled materials.

That partnership continues today, this year on “Earth Day” twelve team members from Doubletree Beach Resort went to Rawlings Elementary and visited 23 classrooms. Team members and students shared stories, trivia and memories about their favorite trees, and what they learned this spring while completing their lesson plans.

Terry Graber, the General Manager, along with 12 team members returned a week later to Rawlings, on Arbor Day, equipped with 540 cookies and “I Hugged a Tree Today” stickers. “We had an amazing day at Rawlings Elementary on Arbor Day,” said Terry. "We had a lot of fun creating a human chain comprised of all 500+ students, their teachers and Doubletree Beach Resort team members. Each year our partnership and commitment with Rawlings Elementary continues to grow and flourish.  We are excited about our future educational endeavors through the “Teaching Kids to CARE” program."

Thank you Terry Graber and Doubletree Beach Resort for all your contribution to our community!
